So many people have made Disney what it is starting with Walt Disney himself and continuing with the brilliant minds of the imagineers, composers, actors, artists and more. On this week's show we celebrate those Disney legends!
Comic Con is underway this weekend and of course making headlines!
Disney is everywhere you look from costumes to the cast of Once Upon A Time and of course Marvel!
Guardians of the Galaxy was #1 in the box office this summer, not to mention this year and Disney thought they'd continue the success of this franchise by bringing the hit to TV in 2015. The announcement was made yesterday and fans went nuts! The show will be animated on Disney XD and feature some familiar faces from the movie... Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Star-Lord, Gamora and Drax.
Now the real question... Will the stars of the movie be a part of the series?! No word yet but we will of course keep you posted!
This week's outfit is from the new Disney Fairytale Collection at The Disney Store. Yes ladies the clothing for this line is amazing! Last year they released a line and they are back with Tiana, Mulan, Aurora and Pocahontas tees and a Cinderella sweatshirt! Not only do they have clothing but such cute mugs, notebooks, limited edition dolls and lithos all with their princes too!
Yup, That's right! Tomorrowland is home to Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and now will be coming to the theaters May 2015! Usually you'll see Buzz, Stitch and The Incredibles in this Magic Kingdom land but for this movie you'll have to settle for Brad Pitt and George Clooney.
...Those are the famous lines but the beloved trolls on Norway's Malestrom. Earlier this week the attraction had it's finale voyage and now has closed it's doors to make room for a Frozen themed attraction. Am I sad about this Disney closure... yes. But am I excited about a trip to Arendelle... YES! There's no denying this attraction was popular but the wait had been dying down and really it was never more than 20 minutes, except on closing weekend. I said from the moment I saw Frozen this was going to happen and I'm sure the Imagineers will do a great job! You know that line is going to be like the current line for The Mine Train.
The ride is set to open in 2016 and will be the first "imaginary" place in World Showcase... but remember it is still Norway!
What do you think of this big change?
Malestrom fun facts:
The attraction opened July 1988
Norway was the last country opened in Epcot
Remember the Polar Bear in the attraction... it's actually 10 feet tall!
The camera that shot the film at the end of the attraction is the same camera that shot "lawrence of arabia"
Don't forget to stop in the little Churh in the front of Norway... yes you can walk in there! Right now it is set up for a behind the scenes look at Frozen!
We mentioned it briefly on our show a few weeks ago but here are more details for ya... A behind the scenes look at Frozen is coming to ABC!
This feature will bring you inside the Disney Animation Studios for a never before scene look at the movie from the film's creative team and stars. Yup that's right, Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel included! See how the movie originated with producers and animators in Norway to how the characters came to life with the movie's stars! This is going to be a can't miss!!
Also if that's not enough reason there will also be a special announcement of "the next chapter of Frozen," and a sneak peak of Frozen in Once Upon A Time!
The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classicairs September 2nd at 8pm!
Happy Birthday Alan Menken!! An absolute Disney legend! From Disney classics and Broadway hits this guy has done it all! You may not even realize the impact this icon has on your life... until now. Thank you Mr. Menken for truly being one of the Disney greats! I can't wait to see what you create next!
Probably one of our favorite shows... All about the music from your favorite Disney princesses! And speaking of your favorites, you voted and we counted down YOUR top 10 Disney Princesses in the second hour! Hope you enjoy this show as much as we did!!
Well at Disney's Hollywood Studios anyway! Daily character processions, sing-alongs and a nightly party all centered around Frozen. So we all have a sing a long or two based on the movie, ok maybe in your shower. I personally had a Frozen party and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has. But let's talk about this procession....
July 5th- September 1st Anna, Kristoff and Elsa will be involved!!! Oh and I forgot to mention an ice skating rink, ice carving station and more like..... FROZEN THEMED FIREWORKS!!! EPIC!
There's a big debate over CLASSIC DISNEY SONGS and TIMELESS DISNEY SONGS. You chimed in and told us what songs YOU consider to be classic! Great lineup in store so sit back relax and enjoy classic Disney!
My Grandpa recently passed in December and his birthday is today. Since I can't get him anything I am hopeful he can hear all of his favorite Disney songs being played! He loved Disney, had his favorite movies, characters, songs and of course restaurants in Disney. I hope you enjoy some of his favorites!
Miss you Grandpa... I know you and Walt Disney are having a grand ole time!
Everyone thought I was gonna hate Disney's latest movie but I was pleasantly surprised! I have always been fascinated with this Disney villain, especially after meeting her at the Unleash the Villains event last year. Two key things about this movie... Try and separate the classic Disney animated film from this one! Once you do that you will love it. The ending may surprise you but I liked it! I'm a sucker for happy endings so I appreciated how it ended.
Prince Phillip... Although he is Aurora's true love his kiss does not wake her, as it does in the animated movie. Don't let that bother you! I like to think that Maleficent put the spell on her so her kiss had to wake her. The movie is not supposed to be about him but did you see the end of the movie... they are still together!
(Tanks courtesy of Hot Topic... I'm telling you they have the coolest Disney clothes!)
I think Disney did a great job on this one! What did you think?!
So much amazing music in the Happiest Place on Earth... especially Magic Kingdom! From the music on main street you hear while taking a stroll, the amazing attraction soundtracks and let's not forget about the epic fireworks and parade music...
Frozen is perhaps the most successful film Disney has ever created. Between the merchandise flying out of stores, the 4 hour wait time to meet Anna and Elsa... get on that fastpass plus if you want to see them, but perhaps my favorite thing to see down there was this....
No matter where you were going you stopped to watch this... EPIC! Very clever Disney!
Hey Mousketeers! Missed you but oh my did I have a blast in Disney!
So many new things happening down in The Happiest Place on Earth...
Let's talk The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train....
How fun does that look?! Well it was amazing! It had the perfect amount of thrills and family fun! Think Big Thunder Mountain meets Snow White's Scary Adventure. There are a few hills on this attraction, nothing like Splash Mountain, and lots of twists and turns! What really makes the turns more thrilling is the way your mine car moves. The individual cars sway!! Brilliant!!! The turns come so close to onlookers and add in the sway and you're in for a great time!! My family and I tried out the New Fantasyland thrill in both the front, middle and end.
Now let's talk classic Disney touches.... The Dwarves are there!! You actually go in the mine and hang out with them! These are unlike any other audio animatronics Disney has done in the past! These are absolutely amazing! You'll be singing Heigh Ho right along with these seven cuties.. I guarantee it!
My family and I tried out the New Fantasyland thrill in both the front, middle and end. The front is great for taking in the scenery and the surprise at the end! Riding on the end is like a whole different ride! It goes faster and sways more... definitely recommend requesting if you're looking for a thrilling time!
One of my new favorites for sure! So great to see New Fantasyland complete... Bravo Disney!! You never stop blowing my mind!
Hey Mousketeers! So I will be down in Disney World for the next few weeks but we will still have the music of Disney taking over same time and place. Want to know what I'm up to in The Happiest Place on Earth then follow me on instagram @TheChristinaKay :)
In honor of Billy Joel's Birthday we wanted to play some music from Oliver & Company... and then we got to thinking of other very underrated Disney movies. We decided to dedicate the whole show to the underrated Disney movies... These soundtracks are AMAZING though!! Enjoy!
Can't believe it's been 20 years! There are few things in life that are truely life changing and for me this is one of those moments. Seeing Beauty and the Beast for the first time is a moment I'll never forget! The music and show are still a hige part of my life even though it's no longer on broadway.
20 years ago the show the opened and since then Disney has brought some amazing shows to life via broadway making us believe in magic and putting a smile on our face, a tear in our eyes and chills running down our spines! Thank you Disney Theatrical Productions for all you do! See you on broadway soon! Happy 20th... to many more magically entertaining years!
Have you seen any Disney shows?! Which was your favorite?!
This week's Disney outfit of the week is broadway inspired! Beauty and the Beast tee that I treasure from my very 1st broadway show :) (btw they still have some Beauty and the Beast broadway merch on disneystore.com along with your other favorite Disney shows) I had to pull out my Mickey rain gear which got me thinking of the magic that is Mary Poppins on broadway!
Does the Umbrella look familiar? I'm sure you've picked up one of these beauties in the parks! And the rain boots are one of my most complimented accessories! Got them at Tren D in Downtown Disney in 2011 and am obsessed!
Did you watch Dancing With The Stars last night?! It was DISNEY NIGHT aka the most magical of all their shows!
And it really was... there were tears, perfect scores and awesome costumes. Donny Osmond was guest judge and was GREAT!! Let's not forget his connection with Disney... Walt Disney discovered his brothers, Donny played Gaston on broadway AND let's not forget his contribution to MULAN!
These were a few of the show's highlights....
LET IT GO:
SO THIS IS LOVE:
BE OUR GUEST:
Favorite episode so far! Who had your favorite performance of the night?!
(There were also a few mistakes... butchering of That's How You Know and editing problems for Under The Sea but other than that it was very enjoyable)
Are those songs stuck in your head now... your welcome :)
FINALLY!! WE'VE ONLY BEEN WAITING 13 YEARS FOR THIS!
THE FIRST OFFICIAL TRAILER FOR GIRL MEETS WORLD IS HERE!
Not enough for ya?! Same! That's why I did some research and found out Mr. Feeney will be in the debut episode and Minkus is back baby!! Also most of the original cast will be in the show's holiday episode later this year :)
Girl Meets World premieres this summer on Disney Channel and expected to be their highest rated sitcom premiere yet!
This week is all about Heroes on Mousketeer Radio!! In honor of our theme this OOTD goes out to one of my new favorite heroes from Once Upon A Time, HOOK!! Captain Hook was always one of my favorites and just love that he is a hero in this show... although Peter Pan is a villian!
Thanks HOT TOPIC for this amazing shirt... they really do have the best clothes! Oh and when you spend $30 now through April 23rd you can get hot cash... trust me it comes in handy!!
